Silhouette InstaLift™

The Silhouette InstaLift™
Silhouette InstaLift™ is FDA-approved as an effective, minimally invasive solution for facial and neck lifting and tightening. It immediately redefines mid-facial contours, & can lift the tissues of your face, neck & forehead for a natural, younger look. The procedure is performed in the office under local anesthetic while you are awake and takes about 45 minutes.

What does InstaLift Do?
Silhouette InstaLift features a state of the art, resorbable suspension suture with bi-directional cones. The sutures lift and reposition the tissue under the skin while the cones hold the skin in an elevated position. Both the cones and sutures are made of glycolide and L-lactide so they stimulate fibroblasts for collagen production. As collagen production gradually matures it deposits volume in the treatment area and provides natural-looking results. This treatment offers both men & women a dual benefit of immediate facial lifting and volumization without the unwanted challenges of traditional surgery.

How Does Silhouette InstaLift Work?
When placed under the skin, the sutures lift and reposition the tissue and the cones hold the tissue in the newly lifted position. Each InstaLift suture is composed of two degradable sugar materials, 1) a glycolic polymer called polyglycolic acid (PGA), and 2) poly-L-lactic acid (PLA or PLLA). The long suture is made up of only PLLA, while the specially designed absorbable tiny cones are a combination of 82% PLLA and 18% PGA . Both sugars are routinely used in aesthetics – PLLA is the main ingredient in some absorbable sutures as well as the volumizing injectable, Sculptra. Glycolic acids are commonly used for skin renewal in skin care products and peels. These two substances stimulate both Type I & Type II collagen production over time. As your new collagen matures, it contributes volume to the treated area & provides gradual natural-looking results. Basically as the InstaLift sutures naturally dissolve, your body's own collagen & fibroblasts take the place of the InstaLift sutures to help maintain your lifted tissues.

The InstaLift™ Procedure
The treatment begins with marking the entrance and exit points for the InstaLift sutures. Once numbing is applied and has taken effect, the InstaLift needle, with attached suture and cones, is threaded under the skin surface. The needle is guided through to the exit point, leaving the suture and cones under the skin. This process is repeated for each InstaLift suture to be placed. Afterwards, the InstaLift sutures and cones are locked in face by gentle massaging sweeps of the skin to create an immediate lifting effect. Results, however, continue to improve over approximately a six-month period as the suture and cones are naturally broken down and eliminated by the body, stimulating collagen in the areas of placement. InstaLift takes about 30-45 minutes to complete with minimal discomfort and usually little to no downtime.
who is a good Candidate for InstaLift?
The most ideal candidates for the Silhouette InstaLift procedure have good skin elasticity and mild to moderate skin laxity, particularly of the jowls, jawline, and cheeks. Extremely thin patients with decreased skin thickness may not be great candidates, as the sutures reside in the fat layer and safe placement in this case may be more challenging.

Is an InstaLift the Same as a Thread Lift?
Due to its absorbable nature, area of placement, and depth of placement, Silhouette InstaLift should not be thought of as a “thread lift” or associated with complications from such procedures of the past. Furthermore, the sugar molecules that compose the InstaLift suture are different from Threadlift sutures of the past. InstaLift sutures are biodegradable, meaning they dissolve slowly over time & have the benefit of stimulating new collagen growth in the area of placement, enhancing the subtle but visible lifting results of InstaLift. The new technology of sutures with bi-directional cones doesn’t just reposition the skin but also the underlying tissue. The underlying tissue layers are what really causes sagging.

How much downtime is there following the InstaLift procedure?
There is minimal to no downtime associated with InstaLift. While individual results may vary, most patients experience minimal to mild soreness for a day or two. Most patients can resume daily social activities within 24-48 hours, if not the same day.

should I avoid any activities after my Silhouette InstaLift?
Patients can return to their usual activities as soon after their procedures as they feel comfortable, although it is generally recommended that patients refrain from hard chewing and strenuous activities for one week in order to avoid displacement of the locked InstaLift sutures. Eating hard or chewy foods, chewing gum, or facial massage should be avoided for 1 week. Makeup and topical skin care products may be used after 24 hours

when will I see Results following the InstaLift procedure? How long will they last?
Immediately following your appointment, your results will be visible. Although you may see some visible needle marks in your skin, these go away on their own within a few days, leaving behind only beautiful, improved tone. As your body absorbs the sutures and stimulates collagen production your results will continue to develop and improve for approximately three to six months following the treatment. The results of the Silhouette InstaLift can last for up to 2 years, and potentially even longer when the procedure is combined with other treatments, such as skin tightening with Vivace RadioFrequency Microneedling, Botox, Dysport, & Cosmetic Dermal Fillers.

Are There Side Effects from an InstaLift?
Patients may experience some swelling, bruising, redness, or minor discomfort after placement. These side effects are mild and typically subside by themselves in a short time. Other side effects can include sensory nerve injury, asymmetry, or banding.
